We had a fabulous time again. Your organisation was impeccable, the venue and hotel were superb.

It’s a pleasure to join colleagues and learn together, but it’s a special privilege to work with an organisation that is motivated, slick, efficient and well organised.

BEAUTIFUL BRAZIL

13th – 24th May 2018

Salvador Optional Post-conference Extension (returns 27 May)

This 3-centre guided tour of Brazil (4-centre with the extension) offers you a unique experience of this vast country. Covering over half of the continent of South America, this tropical paradise borders every South American country except Ecuador and Chile.

For many, the opening chapter of their Brazilian story will be Rio de Janeiro, easily the most recognizable of all the Brazilian cities. Few travellers have ever disagreed that Rio is the world’s most beautiful and spectacular setting for a city. Charles Darwin noted that Rio was "more magnificent than anything any European has ever seen in his country of origin". But Brazil is much, much more than just Rio de Janeiro. It is a country of many hidden treasures of which we will endeavor to show you a few of the most spectacular. On this tour of Brazilian highlights we will take you to the vibrant and colourful city of Rio de Janeiro, the hugely impressive Iguassu falls and the lesser-known, but equally spectacular Pantanal region of the wetlands.

We start the tour in Rio de Janeiro, the most visited city in Brazil, and one can see why. To really appreciate the beauty of this city you have to get up high to the Statue of Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain from where one has the most spectacular views over the city and its famous beaches, from all angles.

We will take you to a great local hot spot to experience the vibrant Samba and taste some wonderful Brazilian food whilst in this colourful city. Making sure not to miss the caipirinha cocktails and the amazing Brazilian meat which really should be tried whilst there.

Our base in Rio de Janeiro for 3 nights is, arguably the best hotel in town, the Belmond Copacabana Palace. Located right on the famous Copacabana beach and in the heart of town, this is a great hotel.

Following on from Rio we fly to the Iguassu Falls, where we will be staying in the beautiful Belmond Hotel Das Cataratas. This is the only hotel located within the National Park and as such allows us the luxury of early entry to the falls before all the day-trippers arrive. We will have the opportunity of visiting the falls from both the Brazilian side as well as the Argentinian side from where you will get two different experiences. It’s hard to imagine how truly stunning these falls are until you see them for real, they are the largest and most impressive falls in the world.

Our final stay on the main tour is in the lesser-known Pantanal wetlands district. Whereas most people will stay in the cities and on the beaches, we will also show you this beautiful nature reserve. The Pantanal is the world’s largest wetland, covering 210,000 sq km.

The Pantanal has few people and no towns and in winter months tropical rains flood the region making the only access is by boat or helicopter. In the summer months, March to October, the waters subside and we are able to access the lodge by road.

Renowned for its wildlife, it’s home to hundreds of species of birds, along with giant otters, jaguars, caimans and capybaras. The eco-lodge provides access to canoeing, horseback riding and hiking trails.

Pousada Rio Mutum - Pantanal Lodge is located in one of the most beautiful regions of the Pantanal, Mato Grosso. In this ecological paradise you will experience full immersion in nature and its wildlife. Hiking trails and horse riding through thick jungle and wetland or navigating through pristine rivers and lakes, we have the opportunity to observe the great biodiversity of the Pantanal, offering unforgettable memories.

Flights for this trip are fairly complex as you will see. We are using several different airlines to enable us to get the best connections available. Each booking will be reserved at the time of application and because of this, the flight costs may increase. Our recommendation is to book early in order to get the best price.

SALVADOR POST-CONFERENCE EXTENSION

3 nights at the Sheraton Bahia Hotel in Salvador. Returns to the UK on 26/05/18

Located on a beautiful natural harbour, Salvador was colonised by Portuguese merchants in the early 16th century. It was the capital of Brazil until 1763 when power moved to Rio de Janeiro.

The city is home to many of Brazil’s biggest musical groups and the home of Samba. Salvador’s thriving cultural scene dates back to the colonial era when millions of men were brought over from Africa as slaves to work on the sugar plantations. They have left their mark on the city with their religion still being practiced today and their local folklore in evidence all around.

The oldest city in Brazil is one of the most beautiful and interesting in the country, with its Portuguese legacy of cobbled streets and historic pastel-hued colonial buildings you will love to wander these streets.

Enjoy the cultural heritage by exploring the Baroque Church of Sao Francisco and other historic buildings, whilst stopping to admire the local sculptures and artwork. The city is split over two levels, the commercial & harbour area as well as some markets and plenty of eateries in the lower city, whilst the upper level is reached by an elevator and here you will find the historic district of Pelourinho.
