Burma 2010 - Hotels

To compliment the Burma Cruise we have chosen some beautiful hotels for our 7 night extension:

We will start at the Raffles Hotel In Phnom Penh for our first evening. Raffles Hotel Le Royal is the premier hotel in Phnom Penh, an hotel with history and style. First established in 1929 it has always been renowned for its international clientele, writers, journalists, and royalty and, of course, backpackers. There is no better place to have a cocktail than the Elephant Bar in Raffles. The State Rooms, located in the new low-rise wings of the hotel, offers guests a choice of views, rooms overlooking either the hotel's two pools or the lush landscaping around the wing blocks.

Our next stop is La Résidence d'Angkor Hotel in Siem Reap – Orient Express' magnificent property. It is an intimate luxury hotel near Angkor Wat, set within a leafy walled garden. From here you are ideally placed to explore Siem Reap and to visit the temples of Angkor Wat, one of the man-made wonders of the world.

We shall be staying in the Royal Deluxe River Side Rooms with a stunning view of the river, each room offering a private terrace with a table and chairs. These rooms are decorated in cottons, silks and bamboo. A choice of king size bed or two twin beds and a large marble bathroom with terrazzo bath. International buffet breakfast is included. Each room has a large free-form bath with plenty of space for relaxing after long days of exploring the surrounding area of Siem Reap and beyond.

Laze away the day around the hotel's freshwater pool, inspired by the nearby Baray lakes and nestling amid palms, bougainvillea and frangipani shrubs. The hotel also has battery driven bicycles to rent for those wishing to explore the vicinity and the closer Temples of Angkor. Their in-room spa and beauty services will leave you relaxed, refreshed and glowing with health. You can easily walk into town or visit the many restaurants and hotels surrounding the property.

Finally we shall move to Luang Prabang to the magnificent Orient Express property La Résidence Phou Vao. The garden view rooms are located on the ground floor of the hotel, these easily-accessed rooms are surrounded by frangipani trees. With either twin a double king bed, each room is over 60 square metres. Each room has a spacious bathroom with terrazzo bath and a double sink.

At La Résidence Phou Vao they offer the best in Laotian dining and their outside restaurant has probably the most beautiful view we have ever seen.

The hotel's cocktail bar offers a comfortable indoor lounge and outdoor seating, with fabulous views over the swimming pool and beyond to the mountains; the perfect place for enjoying an aperitif while the sun sets.
