Montenegro & Dubrovnik
Discover the New Riviera! 24th-31st May 2008
Come and discover the youngest country in the world and the magnificent Mediterranean coastline that it has to offer with our family friendly GP course in the May half term break.
Montenegro is breathtaking. Its coastline is often compared to the French Riviera or The Amalfi coast, its mountains plummeting into the sea, its shores full of historic and ancient towns, fishing villages and monasteries and all barely discovered. It has been suddenly thrust into the limelight by the James Bond film and has featured in the Conde Naste Traveller, so a visit to Montenegro will now allow you to experience the charm and spectacle of this part of the Med before it succumbs to development and internationalisation.
As far as quality hotels go, development has already started. The conference will be based at the brand new 5 star Hotel Splendid in the small resort of Becici. This hotel was only opened as few months a go and is the first truly luxurious international hotel on the coast. Not only does it have all the room and dining qualities that you would expect but it is also a hotel that goes out of its way to accommodate families. There are eight swimming pools (indoor, outdoor fresh and sea water) children’s facilities and even a teenage club which means that there are activities for all ages – from babies up until the age of 16.
But there is more to this venue then the hotel and the beach. As one would expect with Conference Plus, we have put our 15 years of expertise to good use when selecting our destination. We shall be offering you a whole host of chances to explore this relatively unknown destination. One of the highlights will be a visit to Kotor, a wonderfully preserved historic town, dating from the 12th century and whose perfectly preserved medieval centre makes it a UNESCO World Heritage Site. However, as if the town itself was not worthy of a visit in its own right its setting is one of the most spectacular in the whole Med. It lies deep within a complex fjord system ringed by the high mountains that guard the coast and which afford stunning views.
Or spend some time in Dubrovnik, over the border in Croatia and our port of entry to this fast changing part of the Balkans. Restored after the civil war, Dubrovnik is now one of the most visited and attractive walled town in the region and deservedly one of the most popular destinations in the area.
As well as being educated in the maritime history of this part of the Dalmatian coast we will be providing a more formal educational programme, which, as you will expect from Conference Plus, will be essential for those who want to stay up to date in General Practice. We know that live interactive education is so much more powerful and even more so when our faculty are constantly on hand whether in sessions or by the pool to add their personal informal teaching to their formal presentations. All this educational power and resource From ophthalmologic advances to honing orthopaedic diagnoses, from topical issues in gynaecology to the enigma of abdominal pain in children we will ensure that your week is as intellectually stimulating as it is corporally relaxing.
